Family Bassinet

Jeff and I visited G'ma Trudy and Papa LeRoy while we were at the farm, and we left their house with our changing table (handcrafted by Papa himself!) and the family bassinet! I am quite excited to be able to use both of these pieces of furniture--G'pa has spoiled us with oak furniture for our house (and continues to do so) and the bassinet has been in our family for several generations. G'pa told me that HIS parents bought the little cradle and all of his brothers and sisters slept in it. Then, he and G'ma had seven babies all use it, then of their 14 grandchildren, most of them got to use it...and my sister's two girls (the fourth generation) closed sleepy little eyelids in it. We get to continue the tradition! Little Lady Lochhead will be the third great-grandchild to snooze in this little bed!

Mom's Birthday

This is just a fun picture of my mom and her kids on her birthday--even though Ben's in Alaska we got his picture out and set it at the dinner table with us. It was a fun birthday--filled with taco salad, coconut creme pie (thanks, G'ma Caroline!), and our crazy family.

Last Lecture...

In my attempt to embed this video, I have grown weary. So here is a link to the video. The video is the last lecture of a Carnegie Mellon University professor named Randy Pausch who has 3-6 months to live due to liver cancer. The lecture is entitled, "Achieving Your Childhood Dreams". Though the video is long...it is a gem!!

Camano Island

Ellie and I returned home this evening after five fantastic days on the west side. Saturday we weaved our way north from Camano Island all the way to Bellingham taking back roads and stopping at used book stores and kids shops looking for cute clothes for the babe-to-be. Most notably, during our weaving through the non-existent tulip field, we experience a most wondrous snow storm!! In Bellingham, we ate at "On Rice", a Thai restaurant that came highly recommended. It was great!! On Sunday, we travelled south to Seattle to spend the day with our friend Brock and his girlfriend Kayanna and her daughter Grace. We went up the space needle, rode the monorail downtown, and went out to dinner. It was another great day!! Monday, we took the ferry to San Juan Island. We drove around the whole island stopping in Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor, Lime Kiln Lighthouse, and Cattle Point Lighthouse. Other than just being in such a beautiful place, Ellie and I saw our first fox. It came across the road as we were driving. Awesome!! Tuesday turned out to be a day of relaxation. Ellie and I both finished books we were reading!! We had dinner at Jimmy Pizza and Pasta in Stanwood. Our pizza was phenomenal!! Today, we walked the beach by the cabin we stayed in and got some great pictures of a bald eagle. On the drive home we stopped off at Snoqualmie Falls for a brief break. We pulled in around 7pm. On the whole, the week was a blast filled with amazing views and great company!!
