Brooke & Eddy are Engaged!!!

Today, on Brooke's 25th birthday, B & E got engaged.  It was up at Arbor Crest with a group of their friends.  So glad the waiting for this event is over!  Now to wait for the wedding...  :) So happy for these two!!!

Meanwhile, back at the Covid Ranch...the VanSickles dropped off Froyo for us! What sweet friends.  Grace is determined not to get sick, so she's wearing a mask in the house and hanging out in the basement a lot.  Jeff is braving it without a face covering...

The boys didn't feel too sick for too long...maybe a couple of days with headache and body aches...but mostly they were ready to go back to school, trying to do their learning online for almost two weeks.  I had a bad headache and body aches for a couple of days, too.  And then just TI-RED!!!

Nessa kept me company as I was completing my WAKids training and Google Meeting with students...

The Sandpoint Tournament, 2021...Covid Catchers

The boys both got to participate in the Sandpoint Soccer tournament this September--Josh with his 2010 team and Micah on his new 2012 team. We drove back and forth each day, as lodging was hard to find.  I remember a WET, WET weekend...we all got drenched!  But the highlights included Josh getting to be captain in a game or two, Micah playing in his first real tournament, Janie coming along on Saturday, and eating at Matchwood and a bagel place.

On Saturday at lunch, Micah told me he had a headache, and I thought he was probably exhausted and dehydrated, so I pushed the water intake. He played four games in two days, and on Sunday, he was walking on the field and Jeff had to literally carry him to the van when we went home.  He curled up with Jeff Sunday evening to watch TV, and Jeff and I suddenly knew he must be sick.  Pretty sure it was Covid, we put him to bed and went into Jeff's school to test on Monday morning.  Micah was positive, Josh negative, but at that point if someone in your house had it and you weren't vaccinated you had to stay home too.  Josh tested positive a few days later, and I went to work on Tuesday, but came home with fever and chills.  Thus was the beginning of our Covid days at home.  Jeff and Grace never tested positive, and slowly the boys and I went back to school.  I remember not feeling well but feeling like I had to keep things moving--I completed my WA Kids training online--and Melissa covered my classroom for a day (or two?) until her family came down with Covid.  What a way to start the school year!  Crazy.

X-Country and Trombone for Young Joshua

It was a big week for Josh.  He wasn't sure he wanted to do XC, but his dad was coaching and he quickly made friends with Crosby and Gavin.

And we went to the band night empty handed and came back with A TROMBONE.  OH, yeah!!!

Grace is digging the trombone vibes. :)

Epic Leg Cramp by Jeff Lochhead

Leg cramps are real things, Grace.  No giggling.  Was this the start of our Friday night dinners with Scott and Colleen?!?

The Magic Continues...

The classroom is coming together!!!  A lot of hard work this week as we prepare to start teaching homeschooled students one day a week!

(Of course I went in on a "day off" to put the tree up...duh!)

First Day of School, 2021

Grace, 8th grade

Josh, 6th grade
This is the year that Jeff has BOTH of our Bigs at his school with him!  Josh in 6th, Grace in 8th, and Jeff teaching math AND SHOP CLASS.  So fun.

Micah and I had a good cry as the big kids were leaving...Micah was missing Josh going to school with him already...and I was thinking about how they'd never be in the same school again.  But after a few tears, we bucked up, I took him to school and walked him back to his line on the playground, and then left to go meet my 9MFP students at a picnic lunch.  It was a good first day of lots of changes...
