This has been our state for the past month: Full! It's been a very FULL time--a lot of the same, a little of the monumental--but it's all been stuck in our own memories and my camera, due to our computer running out of memory space. Wish the Ginkoba would work on computers, Mom, but I had to delete a few things to make memory room...and it took all month to do so. :) So now, without further ado, here are the TOP TEN highlights/lowlights/everyday moments that have taken place while our computer's memory was full.
ONE. (Or should I say SIX?) These were the six daffodils that were blooming outside the front of the house--all delivered to me at the height of their bloom! It was hard for me to be upset when my two adoring children harvested ALL of our sweet spring curb appeal...and brought them directly to ME.
...but we did have a talk about "asking before picking."
II. In April we had a scary weekend at the hospital with G'pa Harvey. He went in to have part of his colon removed, did well in surgery and the cancer was removed, but then two days later, he was unresponsive. He ended up having either several small heart attacks or one long heart attack, to which we still don't know the damage. We left him at the hospital at midnight on a Saturday night, after watching him stay stable for several hours, not knowing what the coming days were going to bring. The next morning, Harvey himself calls Dorothy and asks her where she is. She is completely shocked that he's functioning, as he tells her that he's in a beauty parlor and people are painting pictures of him! We rushed back to his room at the hospital and watched in awe as he slowly came out of his drug-confused state to give the ICU staff a run for their money. I remember watching a man that we thought we were losing just the day before, convert his weight from kg to lbs [to say that it must've been a "gross estimation" of his weight--their measurements would mean he'd lost 10 lbs since surgery!], correct staff on what direction his room window was facing, and explain the dream that he had of his life being painted in pictures...but the last picture hadn't been painted yet. That morning, he held Dorothy's hand and asked, "Did you think you were going to lose me?" Dorothy politely shrugged her shoulders and said it was a wild night, but Harvey wanted to know the truth. When she said that we did think he was leaving us, he looked at her and said, "I'm so sorry. That must've been hell for you. I'm not leaving yet, Dorothy." So very sweet. He's slowly recovering at home now...and we have been freshly reminded that life is a gift.

3. G'ma Bonnie turned...OLDER! We had a Taco Tuesday party for her at her favorite dining establishment: Fizzie's!
Cousins already hanging out at the bar...
G'ma got her Gonzaga sweatshirt she'd been wanting!
(Love the neon lights in the background of this snuggle-shot! How funny!)
FOUR. You notice the bottle in the last picture...well, we've been slowly weaning Josh from the bottle to the sippy, but an event this month led to the cold-turkey method of transition. I ran over the bottle with our van! It really, really wasn't on purpose...I promise!...but at any rate, our boy is a sippy-guy now!
CINCO. Cousin Levi and his pigs (parents, too!) came up to the Jr. Livestock Show! Joshy really wanted to visit, so we went one morning when Gracie was in preschool. Oden got to go along, too, and proved to be quite the livestock lover! :) Joshy is pictured, above,
This boy was not afraid to touch these pigs and was so curious about their water.
We did NOT try to get a picture of him riding a pig. I see nothing. :)
Jerry and Sheyanna were such good tour guides! Levi was very busy, having just been selected as the Jr. Livestock Show's Ambassador, but he still made time to have Joshy help feed the pigs. Proud of you, Levi!!!
VI. Yard Sale!!! Drew and Annie hosted a yard sale the Saturday of Bloomsday weekend, and the kids got to have a "lemonade" stand.
Were these yard sale finds? Additions to Annie's dress-up box...and the kids were more than happy to try them out. It was so fun seeing Slick and Twinkles this weekend, too! We all took turns running around to neighboring yard sales and the flea market during the sale...
7. A Bloomsday
Run Hike--We didn't run this year (who am I kidding? JEFF didn't run it this year--I haven't run it since we were dating! Jeff says I just toyed with his workout-affections in those days...) so we called our friends to see if they were up for an adventure!
We drove out of town with the Van Sickles to Cheney, where we explored Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge. Within the first few minutes inside the park we spotted that MOOSE from the comfort of our minivan. Worth the drive right there, folks!
Our little hams and their photographing mommies at work...they put up with us SO WELL! Even in chronological order!
Swans...in wildlife...not a city park...didn't know that really happened!
And I just had to document for posterity, our little wilter...yes, he did poop out on hikes when he was three. Yes, he did turn into a limp noodle in such instances...
ATE. er, EIGHT, was Mother's Day. We ATE a great picnic lunch at Audobon Park with Jeff's mom (and dad) and Drew & Annie and Oden. Then we went for a great drive, where we spotted this herd of ELK, two bald eagles, and several deer. During naps I got to go purchase flowers for my pots and then was treated to Rancho
Barfo Chico for dinner. Oh, and we saw Granny and Gi-gi on the way home. I was able to see my mom the day before--she came up with Abbs and Megs for a dance competition (which will come in the next post, because there are WAY too many great pics to put in this post). We LOVE all the great moms in our lives!!!
Niner. They did it! Joshy and Gracie joined sleeping forces and now sleep in the same room! Joshy told me that "I am too big for my cib, Mommy," and Gracie learned how to get off of the top bunk all by herself...so that meant that they were ready to join up.
...and they slept, finally. :) I have to say that there was a tug at my heart as I walked by Joshy's room with the empty crib. Just another sign that they're growing up SO FAST!
10. Gracie's first season of soccer! I'm trying to get pictures off of Jeff's phone to document in the blog, so stay tuned!
