The Sierra Tip

Jeff and Josh were on their way up to 49 for the day, when I got the call from Jeff saying they'd tipped the Sierra on its side.  Never have we been so thankful for our safety on the road.  We were all shook up by this and I'm not sure how to write about it.  I called Cassie to come stay with Grace and Micah while I went up to help, and after we'd put the truck on a tower, we came home and Cassie took us to see The Greatest Showman, to get our minds off of things.  It was the a great suggestion and we all loved the movie.  Walked away at the end of the day overwhelmed with thankfulness that everyone was okay.

Happy Birthday, Alea!

Alea turned thirteen this year!  We were happy to celebrate her at the Van Sickle lair.

And a few days later, Grace was invited to be part of Alea's friend party at the mall--a massive scavenger hunt in teams!  What fun...

Mt. Spokane in the Early Morning

Jeff got to skin up Mt. Spokane a few times this season.  The sunrise pics were incredible!

The Arts and Sciences of January

The fridge could not contain him...not sure why the mantle is the gallery of choice for our budding Picasso, but it sure is cute to hear him hum while coloring, stretch out the scot=ch tape, and say, "Perfect!" as he attaches the latest drawing to his exhibit.

Nelsie got to go to preschool with us this week!  I love the plank position on the carpet during circle time...

Mead HS had their science night and we got to get our hands on some circuits and such.  A fun night!

Lego creations are still keeping the boys busy this month...I'm pretty sure Micah put 75% of this together on his own.

And of course we had some iPad time this month...

Kai was in the play, Aladdin, with his school!  It was so fun to watch him perform!

Presidents' Day Skiing at 49

This winter the Van Sickles decided to get the ski package of rentals and three lessons, so Josh jumped onto that plan, too.  They went a couple of times together and had a great time!

And this FINALLY happened...The Sound of Music was shown to the Lochhead children!  I had to snap a pic to send to Kaitlyn--she's living in Salzburg where it was filmed, so we were looking at all of the surroundings to see what she sees every day.  Grace thought the movie was okay--the magnificence was lost on the boys...

Flip Fest 2018--Go Megan!!!

We made sure to attend Megan's local meets this year...she had lots of fans and we loved seeing family and usually eating out afterward.  This was also the day that Jeff purchased his LaZBoy recliner, for the records.  Spoiler Alert:  This is the season that Megan would go on to become the ALL-AROUND STATE CHAMPION.  We were just a *smidge* excited.

Errand Running Energy

Micah is the lucky "little" who gets to run errands with Mom and school days, sometimes after preschool.  Our favorite place to get errand energy is the Arby's just down the road from his preschool.  This picture displays his "curly" fry walrus pose.
