September Smoke

The two first weeks of September were filled with long goodbyes.  Colin and Linnea were planning on going back to NYC, via Portland, but the smoke in the air made it not so safe to go to Portland.  So their leaving date kept changing, alongside the change in the first day of school.  Mead was already starting on September 14, after giving the district time to figure out classroom space for full-time (6-ft apart) elementary classrooms and hybrid schedules.  But with the smoke in the air, Mead started a whole week later, yet each day we wondered, "Will we go tomorrow?"  Elementary was set to go back 5 days a week, which we were a little nervous about, while the middle school/HS were hybrid (Tues/Thurs for Grace) and my district was starting 100% online.  In that time, Nessa started sleeping under our bed--not in her crate anymore!--and Colin and Linnea did lots of LAST WEEK FUN things with us.

I found my Nellie Moser clematises!!!  :)

Haircuts.

More sleeping under the bed...

Colin and Grace made macrame.

Bob retired.

We floated the river with and FOR Colin! "Is this where the Van Sickles got shot at?" -Grace, nonchalantly asked as we rounded a bend in the PRIVATE river

What happens when Colin and Linnea are left in charge...children in dog crates.
Micah lost two teeth in one day.

Jeff made a Bob Ross video for the beginning of the year.
Micah played more cribbage with me.
Jeff and I had a date night after getting ready for school days...while G'ma and Papa had the kids overnight at Riverside State Park.

Colin and Linnea put together a scavenger hunt...and then we treated them to a scavenger hunt to give them their cool vintage gifts!

Cupcake Wars happened.  Judge Ellie said BOTH win, for different reasons.  "You have to pick, Mom!!!"

More cribbage.  Toads in the Hole.

School was being set up...

A prayer hit me.  So I went home, watched the video, and wrote it down.
And we bravely walked through transition...
