VBS is Back!

After a two-year hiatus, VBS was back on again this year!  This was the first year of VBS without our Cara, so things were different.  Josh and Micah had already signed up for soccer camp at Whitworth, so we had no campers, just a middle school leader and a couple of games leaders.  Grace got to lead a 5th grade group with Alea, and Jeff & I led the games session for all the age groups. Our theme was Rocky Railway...and it was a hot week!

And a Nessa pic to end our 6-month blog book.  Isn't she a doll?!?

Josh's First Hoopfest Weekend

We got home Friday night and woke early on Saturday to take Josh to HOOPFEST!  What a fun introduction to this Spokane celebration.  The boys played three games Saturday, one game Sunday.  Highlights included finding a SHADE TREE on the side of our court for cooler viewing, and seeing some Gonzaga players!  Josh's teammates were Asher, Gavin, and Mason, and Asher's dad, Luke Thomas coached the boys.  Josh also loved seeing so many friends downtown. He is so much like Jeff!

Our Week at Riley Creek

Our first week away from school was filled with the great outdoors.  I took morning walks around the grounds with Nessa, Jeff read and whittled a wooden brain puzzle, we got lots of play time with Nels (parents in Europe and brother at Camp Reed), lots of reading in hammocks and bunks, and lots of board games!

For Father's Day we found the PERFECT card to go with his silly bird gifts.  And there were pickup mirrors in the mix...WE LOVE THIS DAD!!!

Jeff went on a few longer bike rides, SOLO, so we put the Stalker App on my phone so that I could see where to send the paramedics, if needed.

One day, Jeff took us into Sandpoint to go for a bike ride.  We traveled the Sagle-Sandpoint bridge and then turned around and biked out to a brewery...right before the rain!  Papa Scott had a bike break, and Jeff biked back to get the pickup after he ordered his food so that we didn't have to bike back!

We took Nels for his first SLUSH FLOAT!

We found some great biking in the Syringa Trails--they were a little too intense for G'ma and Papa (and Slick/Bama/Nels) so some biked, some went shopping, and some sat in their lawn chairs with beverages.  We all met up at Matchwood for dinner in the late afternoon.

It was a wonderful week away to kick off the summer.  We love our new trailer, and always look forward to this trip with family each year.
