The peace of the earth be with you,
the peace of the heavens too;
the peace of the rivers be with you,
the peace of the oceans too.
Deep peace
falling over you;
God's peace
growing in you.

Our GG passed away quietly on a Friday morning--11/18/22. She had been in a lot of pain and decline--Hospice had come in earlier in the week, to the care home she was in, right across the street from S&C. Scott had texted that we should go see her this weekend--they were worried about her, but we didn't expect her to go this quickly. She had just been visited by nephew Daniel, and when checked a few minutes later, she was gone. Colleen was called by Sergay and then she called us all.
I was in yoga that AM, and couldn't get GG off of my mind. I prayed for God's peace for her. And in "true God form" Elizabeth ended our shavasana time with a beautiful song of benediction written out above. Peace.
Jeff and Drew and Jen and Angela scrambled to get work coverage and met at S&C's to be together and to see GG before they called the Neptune Society. All of them commented on how lovely it was to all be together--one moment in tears, the next in hysterical laughter. Jeff says that they've all saved voicemails from GG and they took turns replayig them. Our favorite was a msg she left after a Gonzaga loss: "Jeff! We got screwed!!!"
That evening we were originally planning to celebrate November Birthdays at our house, and ended up NOT cancelling that--S&C said we'd all want to be together, anyway. So what a sweet time together we had, here on Lowe. D&A were leaving the next day for Mexico, but even they wanted to be together and joined us. Taco bar, beverages shared, stories of the day and GG's life, hugs. It was a calming balm to be surrounded by the continued story of the Birchills.
