April Fools Day

G'ma predicted this one!  She thought either carrots or an invitation for Colton to come watch the Zags Final Four game at their house this afternoon!  :)  She loved passing out carrots and telling her mysterious carrot story all day long.

Meanwhile, back in Spokane, Josh was breaking in his new bike with a ride to Uncle Drew & Aunt Annie's house.  Then at his last game Jeff said he was pretty tired.  :)  And a video showing the end of the season, celebrated with Silly String.  Perfect.

And then on to Millie's FIFTH birthday party...we wouldn't want to be bored on our first day of Spring Break!  :)

Also note:  The Zags won their first Final Four game against Carolina during this lovely birthday party.  Many thanks to those who ignored the pacing Lochheads during the festivities.  On to the championship!!!

Spring Break Kick-Off

Spring Break started on the afternoon of 3/31...this meant that Baskin Robbins wanted to help us start our break with $1 ice cream cones!  A great way to start our week off!

Daddy stayed home with Josh that night so that they could go to Josh's last basketball game.  But Grace and Micah and I headed down to the farm because IT WAS MARCH 31!

This year, G'ma Trudy had a carrot problem:  She'd had her extra carrots buried in the backyard, and half of them disappeared without a trace!  It was the perfect year to decorate with FOUND CARROTS:

This was the first year that GRACE got to assist in the late-night delivery.  She was a nervous Nelly, not wanting me to slam our van door or sneeze.

Micah Spotlight

Nels and Odie came over once Josh was feeling better...these two storm troopers are hilarious!

Samba got a good snuggle this night.

And the PUZZLES!  He loves them.

A Sick Birthday Boy!!!!

This was the last picture I took of Josh at age six.  Poor baby!!!  His party was supposed to be the next day, on his actual birthday, but we had to cancel due to the marathon barfing.

Poor guy!!!

But the next morning we celebrated slowly, on the couch.  He was a little puny, but excited about his new bike, his headphones, and his Maui Lego set.

(Later in the day we got this picture from D&A...the day before had been Lauren's party at the bowling alley and we were hoping that pre-barf germs weren't spread to Oden during this photo op!)

I went ahead and set up the photo booth that we were saving for Josh's party at the YMCA and we took BARF VADAR pictures.

But even our low-key celebrating wore Josh out.  He took a 3-hour nap on his floor that afternoon.

The funny thing in all of this is that KAI got sick on his birthday, too!  What got into these boys?!?  They were even sick with different illnesses, go figure.  The Van Sickles felt so bad that Josh was sick on his birthday, too, so they came over and rang our doorbell.  We opened the door to find this note:

A birthday greeting and gift delivery...germ-free!  You'll notice that Kai isn't in the picture--he still wasn't feeling better and was home with Mimi.  These boys--always doing things together!

FINAL FOUR, BABY!!!

Tonight our Zags made it to the Final Four!  First time in school history.  We watched the game in our basement while Josh complained of a tummy ache.  I left to go get Tums after the game and Jeff called me half way there to tell me, NEVERMIND, he threw up.  Which leads us to our next post...

Our Little Entrepeneur

As the snow thawed, we found lots of yard debris to clear.  We offered Josh a penny for every pinecone he could pick up, just like last year.  I looked out the back window to see this:  Josh throwing a rake into the tree to knock down more pinecones!  What a goof...and a creative thinker!

Granny Mondays

Micah and I looked forward to our Granny Mondays this spring.  We'd usually go visit her at her place or would go help her run an errand or have lunch...anything that sounded like it fit that day.  On March 20, Micah and I decided to take her on a field trip to see the river!  We took her along the Little Spokane first and showed her Pine River Park COMPLETELY under water, then we took her downtown for a little stroll to look at the falls.  Shortly after we'd been there, we heard they closed the bridge to Canada Island.  The water was so incredibly high!
