Christmas Craftiness

Jeff and I got the bug to make a few of our Christmas gifts this year.  I really wanted to make one of these overgrown rulers (that measure kids' growth) for Micah's birthday, but that deadline came and went...  But since I was planning on making one for Micah, I thought, why not make a couple extra for gifts?  Or six?  :)

This was the perfect project for this duo to do together--Jeff did the meticulous detailed part of staining and measuring out the lines and I got to do the fun artsy coloring with a Sharpie.  So it worked out to be made 80% by Jeff and 20% by me.  Like I said, the perfect project for us.  :)

And Jeff has been wanting to try his hand at woodworking--and after our Cornhole Tourney this summer, he thought that these cornhole boards would be a great starter project.  And if he was making one set, why not make TWO sets to give away? (Our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs!)

It was so fun to give these presents!  And an added bonus was that Jeff got to create some great memories of sewing corn feed into bean bags with his mom...late at night.  And I have memories of hand-painting these WSU Cougars on sawhorses...in the wee hours of the night.  And I got to watch great Christmas movies while coloring in lines and numbers...late at night.

Would it have been smarter to start these projects in November?  Probably.  Would it have been as memorable?  Probably not.  Will we attempt to make gifts next year?  Absolutely! #rereadthispostnextNovember
