We did a different kind of camping while staying at Olympic...we camped at a KOA outside of the park. The KOA was an experience...not quite our kind of camping...but it was nice to have the pool and the go-karts and the clubhouse to get the kids out of the camper at times. We were gone most every day, into the park, and on the first day, Jeff and Julie researched that it would be the lowest tide of the week, so we decided to drive out to Second Beach--and then Rialto Beach--to see what creatures we could view. We had to hike down to Second Beach, but we found it was worth the hike!
We saw so many intertidal creatures! Starfish and crabs and anemones and lots of mussels. The tide was SO LOW that we got to walk SO FAR out to big rocks that had creatures uncovered.
We ended our day with coffee at Forks, WA. The ocean is a great place to spend the day!
