This summer, a powerpoint presentation was created--by Kalei, for Jeff and I. It was a persuasive piece, filled with slides enlightening us on what a Parent Night Out could look like, with Kalei left in charge of the minions. Slides talked about reservations being made for the parents at a local eatery, questions and topics we'd have to leave a little information on ("Ideas on what to do with naughty boys and/or ongoing crying..."), and assurance that our children would be sugared up and left to their own devices with this cunning girl left at the helm.
It was quite an impressive presentation. Very convincing.
So we did it. Four adults walked out of the Van Sickle house, while five older kids distracted little Micah in the high chair. The four said adults sauntered across Division to Wasabi Sushi Bistro and enjoyed two hours of uninterrupted conversation and delicious food that was not cut into smaller bites for minions. It was glorious. Upon return, we were met with this crew, whining that we didn't stay away longer. Kalei's first night as warden: a success!!!
